Global art choices

I am finally posting photos showing the first five centers in the art room this year. The African mudcloth has been a real hit, except for the smell of the mud mixed with a bit of tempera paint. Painting in the Australian dot or white outline style has proved difficult for many students: too time consuming. Although some students have little patience for the gel pen designing, those who are committed to finishing a full pattern or design want to come at noon hour to finish. The Chinese Olympic calligraphy has generated the most artwork. Some students don’t want to leave. I used Discovery Streaming video clips on Chinese calligraphy on my iPod as a teaching tool at this center. Students knew how to manipulate the iPod to view both videos before painting. Some classes are asking for a second week of the same choices so they can do all centers.Gel pen patternCalligraphyAustralian paintingMudpainting
